Umwelt- und Meerestechnik Kiel GmbH

K.U.M. Umwelt- und Meerestechnik Kiel GmbH is exhibiting the “Next Generation Lobster” – the smallest Longterm Broadband Ocean Bottom Seismometer System worldwide.

• At a glance: 32bit at 250Hz, 143dB at 125mW, Trillium Compact, external 200GB storage, GPS and AIS, 1 to 3 years of recording, size of half a pallet, 190kg weight (stackable), syntactic foam and titanium, 6000m operation depth.

In addition to the OBS-System “Next Generation Lobster”, they featured Data Logger “6D6”, Titanium releasers, and Titanium pressure tubes.

The Longterm Broadband Ocean Bottom Seismometer System is unique: the new data logger “6D6 records 32 bits with a Signal-Noise-Ratio of better than 143 dB and a power consumption of 125mW only. Together with the broadband seismometer “Trillium compact 120” the total power consumption is as low as 300mW. Fewer batteries are needed for a 12 month operation, so K.U.M. has been able to shrink the complete instrument to a size of half a standard wooden pallet. This way you can transport 40 complete OBS-Systems in one standard 20” container. It is of use to marine scientists, and the exploration industries.

Those who attended the Hydrography, Geophysics and Geotechnics stream found their exhibits of particular interest.
