Horizon Geosciences

Horizon Geosciences is a leading provider of multi-disciplinary marine survey and geotechnical services, offering a broad range of marine scientific services to clients across oil and gas, renewables, civil, subsea and offshore construction sectors around the world. Horizon Geosciences is known to be a flexible contractor dedicated to innovation and QHSE.

They featured the capabilities of the Horizon Geobay, Horizon’s DP2 vessel dedicated to the North Sea and Atlantic region, and visitors can learn how it completed 6845m of geotechnical drilling and 5019m downhole CPT with 91% uptime between 2013 and 2015.

Visitors learnt more about how Horizon’s innovation was recognized recently in the renewables sector when their revolutionary 200kN Seabed CPT system was used, with great success, on a complex geotechnical site investigation for Vattenfall, offshore Denmark. Horizon’s digital CPT System is designed to achieve a continuous profile to depths in excess of 40m into the ground making it an attractive choice over traditional drilling methods.

Project Manager for Horizon Geosciences Limited, John Cudden explains: “Building an accurate ground model is crucial to the development of offshore wind farms, therefore a high volume of quality CPT data is needed, often within tight timescales. This is where Horizon’s 200kN CPT can surpass traditional drilling expectations in terms of production and cost.”

With international offices in key locations, Horizon has carefully invested in its people, technology and assets which include; offshore vessels, nearshore survey boats, ROVs, geotechnical drill rigs, bathymetric and geophysical spreads and more. oi@horizon-gesociences.com; and www.horizon-geosciences.com
