A.P. van den Berg

A.P. van den Berg featured a model of their ROSON seabed CPT system together with information on all their offshore systems to investigate the soil, including their wireline CPT system the WISON-APB, their Seabed Sampler XL and digital Icone data acquisition system with click-on modules (Conductivity, Seismic, Magneto and Vane) to measure extra parameters next to the standard ones.

Cone Penetration Test (CPT) is a scientifically proven soil testing method (conform the ISO 22476-1) that provides accurate soil data. Ever since the eighties, their engineers have been making CPT technology available for seabed soil investigation preceding civil works, installations for oil and gas and construction of wind farms.

Various CPT systems is available, for shallow to ultra-deep water. With the continuous innovations from their own engineering and development department customers are assured of getting the latest technology. After engineering, manufacturing and delivering, their engineers take care of training, installation and start-up as and where required. Subsequently they provide a full after-sales service, including fast dispatch of consumables, spares and on-site support. Their track record and presence in the offshore market is unrivalled.

Their systems are used by soil investigation companies, drilling companies, oil and gas companies, installation companies and more. Well-known customers are for example COSL, Sinopec Group, Lankelma UK, and Asian Geos.

Their exhibits were interested in the Hydrography, Geophysics and Geotechnics conference stream.

They offer various pushing systems for shallow to ultra-deep water, whereby each has to cope with its range of water pressures. As all their pushing systems work in conjunction with their digital Icone data acquisition system (which is easily extendable with click-on modules to measure extra parameters) different water pressures must also be considered in the cone designs. Icones are available in a standard version for shallow to medium water depths as well as a pressure compensated version for deeper water. The Deep Water Icone is a pressure compensated cone, allowing measurements relative to the hydrostatic pressure at cone level, resulting in high accuracy over the full range of water depths up to 5,000 m. www.apvandenberg.com
