The Oceanology International 2018 Technical Tracks conference sessions will cover the following topics. Check back in December for confirmed speakers and presentations.

Hydrography, Geophysics & Geotechnics
Chaired by: Andy Hill - Marine Geohazard Technical Authority at BP Exploration; Richard Salisbury - Senior Consultant at Fugro GeoConsulting

This conference strand will focus on offshore site investigation and the data collection, processing and analysis techniques used in mapping and pre-engineering studies of the offshore environment to understand the physical nature of the seabed and sub-seabed with implications to the oil & gas, renewables, seafloor mining, telecommunications and marine and coastal construction industries. Contributions are welcomed from any operators, contractors, equipment suppliers and researchers working in this field.

Aquaculture
Chaired by: Lawrie Stove - Managing Director at AquaMoor; David Kelly - CEO & CTO, InnovaSea; Keith Jeffery - Aquaculture Development Officer, Cefas

This conference track will explore the technologies being used to support the design, monitoring and maintenance of marine aquaculture facilities and marine life support systems. Also to be discussed are the emerging challenges and developments for the Aquaculture industry operating offshore.

Ocean Observation & Sensing
Chaired by: Carl Gouldman - Director of U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS®), NOAA; Matt Mowlem - Head of the Ocean Technology and Engineering Group at the NOC; & Justin Manley - Founder of Just Innovation

This conference strand will explore the latest developments in measurement techniques and instrumentation for monitoring of ocean physics, chemistry and biology. Presentations are also invited that include the benefits or potential benefits derived from ocean observations that will lead to improved weather, climate and ocean models.

Unmanned Vehicles & Vessels - Part 1
Chaired by: Steve Hall - CEO of SUT; Dan Hook - Managing Director of ASV Global; & Prof Russell Wynn - Chief Scientist of NOC's Marine Autonomous and Robotic Systems

This conference track will focus on innovative developments and novel applications in marine autonomous systems, including AUVs, ROVs and ASVs. Of particular interest are contributions that address: multi-vehicle or collaborative elements; the current limitations of autonomy; rapid response capabilities; and over the horizon (beyond the line of sight) operations.

Delivering Efficiencies Across the Offshore Oil & Gas Life Cycle
Chaired by: Christopher Curran - Senior Consultant at CJC Enterprises & Steve Barrett - Senior Vice President - Business Development at Oceaneering

This new conference track will showcase examples of techniques and technologies which contribute to reduced operating costs across all stages in the life cycle of offshore developments from exploration through to decommissioning.

Ocean Information & Communications Technology
Chaired by: Nick Lambert - Maritime Domain Expert at the Satellite Applications Catapult; Dr Clare Postlethwaite - Coordinator of the Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) & Dr Helen Wells - Business Group Leader of Meteorology and Science at the Met Office

This new conference track will highlight some of the latest connected technologies for data acquisition and connectivity, discuss the importance of widening access to ocean data, highlight a variety of organisations facilitating this and explore a few of the novel applications open source data. 

Underwater Imaging & Metrology
Chaired by: Simon Waterfield - Head of Survey Support Group at Sonardyne & Blair Cunningham - President of Technology & Divisional CEO of Coda Octopus Products

This new conference track will explore emerging techniques and technologies for marine imaging and metrology. Particular topics of interest include: the benefits of realtime imaging for significant cost reduction and operational efficiency in offshore & construction activities; and bridging the gap between optical and acoustic realtime imaging for rapid inspection and guidance.

Chaired by: Dr Zoe Roberts - Senior Metocean Analyst at Vattenfall Wind Power (UK) & Dr Stephen Wyatt - Research & Disruptive Innovation Director at the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult

This conference track will focus on the technology required to safely develop, install and maintain offshore renewable infrastructure and the difficulties associated with taking marine renewable energy systems into increasingly challenging environments.  Also of interest are developments in digitalisation, automation and other disruptive technologies, that may affect or benefit the offshore renewable industry. 

Navigation & Positioning
Chaired by: Xavier Montazel - Vice President, Director of Navigation Systems Business Unit at iXblue & Walter Jardine - Upstream Survey & Positioning Authority, BP

This conference track will look at the latest techniques and technologies for navigation and positioning.
